SUPERMODEL

Open Satellite announces the launch of a biennial exhibition of architectural model making. This two-part exhibition presents models of recent projects from Portland-based Allied Works Architecture along with the winning results of a juried student competition from degree granting architecture programs in the Western US and Canada.

Each SUPERMODEL reoccurrence will have a new regional focus intended to highlight the work of one prominent architectural practice exhibited alongside the academic achievement of students from the same region.

In only fifteen years, Allied Works Architecture has risen to international prominence for achieving the rare balance of poetry and rigor in buildings that compliment their art-based functions. Selected for this exhibition are a series of presentation and study models that serve to highlight the working methodology of the firms approach to architecture.

For the student portion, a panel of jurors selected work by thirteen architecture students and recent graduates for inclusion in the exhibition. Of these thirteen, one grand prize winner will be awarded a cash prize of $1,500 and four honorable mentions will be awarded $250 each. Prize winners will be announced at the public opening on February 3.
